What happens to elephants in India has repercussions around the world, so Sangita's mission to protect them is imperative! Elephants' enormous bodies are literally designed to be natural climate mitigators . As we've seen this summer with floods, wildfires and soaring temperatures across the globe, climate change has no borders, so what happens to elephants in India and Africa reverberates and impacts other countries at a devastating pace. Protecting elephants and their habitat protects the biodiversity that is essential to combating climate change. Since money makes the world go round, it's important to highlight that even the International Monetary Fund acknowledges elephants’ contribution, noting that each elephant is responsible for sequestering carbon worth more than $1.75 million in its lifetime. Elephant extinction would only exacerbate climate change. Sangita's message also speaks to other women yearning to become free of their own shackles.
