To recognize authors making a positive impact with words, the Annual Goody Business Book Awards is now accepting 2023 Nominations with 25 new categories to expand options for writers. While many book awards highlight a social good category, the Goody Business Book Awards program honors 100% social impact books in 50 categories.
Any book published within 5 years (2019-2023) is eligible for the 2023 Goody Business Book Awards.
“With a sea of 48.5+ million books published on Amazon as Kindle eBooks alone, authors need to find new ways to stand out above the rest beyond being a bestseller, which includes becoming an Award-Winning Author,” explains Goody PR and Goody Business Book Awards Founder, Award-Winning Author and Podcast Host Liz H. Kelly.
When asked what changed, Kelly expanded, “Our author awards program still has 50 total book award categories, but added MANY new categories based on the most popular book award categories last year (i.e. Self-Help Memoir, Self-Help Inspiration and Leadership-Think Differently).”
More book award category options were added to recognize authors who wrote about their “life story.” For example, Autobiography, Biography, Personal Transformation, Motivation, Happiness, Diet and Exercise categories are new.

The goal is to amplify authors in their niche area of expertise to better attract potential readers, fans and clients. Our Book Award Categories are in these 8 subject areas:

When submitting a nomination, authors will also be asked HOW their book is improving lives. Kelly explains, “If your book is helping people live longer, improve their diet, be inspired, be a better leader, save money, buy a house, market their product better and/or other positive impacts, you should nominate your book for a Goody Business Book Award.”

One of the fastest ways to make your book award news go viral is to send out a press release using a news wire that gets picked up by multiple media outlets. For example, one of our Business – Philanthropy /Non-Profit, Award-Winning Authors Devin D. Thorpe (“Superpowers for Good”) sent out a press release announcing his award. Thorpe used EIN Newswire, contacted us for a quote, and it was picked up by ABC4 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and many others.
2. Add Book Award News to Your Website
To maximize your book SEO (Search Engine Optimization) as an Award-Winning Author, one of the best things you can do is post your award on your website. When some does a Google search for award-winning books in your subject matter, you want your book to be on top of their search results.
For example, “I Love Me More” Author Jenna Banks posted this banner on her website with Goody Business Book Awards recognition for her Self-Help – Memoir (one of the most popular and competitive categories) as a Finalist.
3. Publish Book Awards Seal on Your Cover
To stand out in a sea of 46 million+ authors on Amazon, Award-Winning Authors can also add the book awards seal to their cover. The seal is a visual that can help your book catch someone’s attention when scanning through books in a specific genre. For example, Goody Business Book Awards Winner and Finalist David E. Edey (“Executor Help”) tweeted this banner with the seal on the cover. His publisher, Friesen Press, also posted it on Instagram.
4. Share Your Award-Winning Author News in Banners
You can also share your new book award all over social media using banners. All Goody Business Book Awards Winners and Finalists were emailed custom banners to make it easier for them to share the good news.
For example, Award-Winning Author Michael Alcee @mike_drop_(“Therapeutic Improvisation”) shared a banner on Instagram to let his fans know that his book won the 2022 Goody Business Book Awards’ Health – Psychology category. Phillip Wilcoxposted a banner on LinkedIn about his book (“The Future is Autonomous”) winning the Technology – Future Tech and Innovations category. Jeffrey D. Korzenik (“Untapped Talent”) also tweeted that his book won multiple awards, and Art Dielhenn (“Get Out of Your Head, It’s a Mess In There”) posted that his book was Finalist in Health – Psychology using a banner on Instagram.
5. Post Custom Graphics on Social
Authors can also create a custom graphic, and then post it on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media platforms. Everyone was also sent the Goody Business Book Awards seals for Winner and Finalist, depending on their specific award.
Many Award-Winning Authors created their own graphics and shared their awards on Instagram, including: including the Rich Fettke (“The Wise Investor”, Money/Wealth – General – Winner), Batloul Ajlouni (“Ditching Success”, Self-Help Inspiration Winner), and Mark Berridge (“A Fraction Stronger”, Self-Help Inspiration Finalist).
6. Create a Custom Instagram Reels
Because Instagram is now prioritizing videos over photos, posting a Reel is another great way to promote your award-winning book news. In this case, make sure to use all the video features offered to add special effects, music, headlines, hashtags and more. From our 2022 winners, two authors really stood out using custom Instagram Reels, including:

7. Create a Custom Book Award Video
Award-Winning Authors can also create a video to share their book award with fans. YouTube is the second largest search engine behind Google, and is owned by Google so that is a great place to post videos to increase your SEO.
To support all Winners and Finalists, the Goody Business Book Awards created a new Playlist on the Goody PR YouTube Channel, and is sharing a video a day for all 45 categories over the next six weeks. We got this idea after attending the Midwest Emmys® in Minneapolis, where our Goody PR client’s 20 minute Pioneer PBS story won a regional Emmy®, and then the host tweeted individual videos by category! 8. Create a ‘Breaking News’ Video with an Online Panel
In addition to the promotion tips above, the “Pulling Each Other Along: 31 Inspirational Stories about Human Kindness” Award-Winning Authors posted a celebration video with a panel discussion on their Facebook page about their book winning the Self-Help-Inspiration category. Award-Winning Authors Todd Civin, Doug Cornfield, Dave Stevens, and Dave Clark, announced the “Breaking News” with back stories on “Pulling Each Other Along”.
During this video panel, the Award-Winning Authors reflect on the inspiring stories in the book, and praise Todd and Doug for putting it all together. If you look closely, the basket in the logo is the shape of a book that the balloon is lifting above a crowd. Similar to how each patch in a balloon lifts up its’ passengers, each page in a book can tell a powerful story. All social impact authors are like balloon pilots driving a narrative. Our goal is to magnify business books that are positively impacting the world.
Author Impact Questions
WHY and HOW? – When anyone nominates a book, we ask two author questions to highlight their positive impact. In one paragraph each, authors will be asked to share WHY they wrote their book and HOW it is helping others. Each answer is limited to a maximum of 150 words. The judges will look closely at the HOW, and this answer will be featured for Winners and Finalists on the Goody Business Book Awards website and social media promotions.

3. Submit Payment and Wait for Judges to Announce Winners
Step 1 – Select Your Book Award Category(s)
Anyone can nominate a book for 1 or more of the 50 categories in 10 genres to help authors get recognized in their niche area. The ten subject areas include Business Books, Children’s Books, Entrepreneur, Health, Leadership, Marketing/Sales, Money/Wealth, Real Estate, Self-Help and Technology.
Step 2 – Add Your Book Details
To help the judges and book promotions, authors are asked to submit a book PDF, book cover image and answer 2 quick author questions (1 paragraph each) about their Author WHY and HOW their book is making a positive impact. These two questions are very important for the judging because the Goody Business Book Awards will recognize authors helping others (save money, be a better leader, lose weight, improve their health, start a company, buy a home, learn new tips, get educated, use technology and more).
Step 3 – Submit and Wait for Judges to Announce the Winners
The last step is to pay the submission fee that covers administrative costs via Square by September 30, 2022. And, then wait for the judges to announce the Winner and Finalist for each category by November 15, 2022, just-in-time for holiday book marketing promotions.
All 100 Award-Winners will be encouraged to promote their book awards by adding the awards-seal to their book cover, website, a press release, social media and/or blog.
In addition, the Goody Business Book Awards will promote all winners in a press release, website posts, digital media and more to maximize the reach and share the good news.
