Highway To Your Happy Place A Roadmap To Less Stress

Book Cover Upload
Author:

Gary Sprouse, M.D.

How is your book helping others?

A primary care physician with 30-plus years of experience, Dr. Sprouse has seen few if any patients who were not exhibiting stress. And in that time of his practice, he chose to focus mightily on how he could best help his patients – some at understandably “stressful” moments – live with less if not at least at times no stress. After practicing stress reduction himself – successfully – and sharing his “roadmap” with others, he finally chose to put it all down in this book so that a much wider audience can experience what Dr. Sprouse has of living in “that happy place.” Dr. Sprouse’s strategies are innovative; and, as back-cover testimonials show, they do work. Including, in one, someone who thanks Dr. Sprouse’s guidance on stress reduction for helping him find a reason to live. From all the “challenges” we face - often in the work we do – from worry and guilt to regrets, boredom and feeling overwhelmed – this book shows you how to change. And to change now.

How is your book helping others?

"The Perfect Story" teaches people how to tell compelling stories that educate, motivate, and inspire action. As the world becomes more noisy and divided, it's never more important to deliver authentic, compelling messages. Especially with data. Storytelling is a key skill people need in their careers and in life to communicate with clarity and capture hearts and minds. The reader comes away with a new understanding of how stories can shape their leadership, organizational culture, careers and their lives. They learn how to tell stories to help them achieve their outcomes. This book gives people the steps and confidence to be memorable communicators and storytellers whether they are giving a toast or eulogy, pitching an idea, interviewing for a job, or presenting information. As Adam Grant said in his blurb, "Come for the engrossing content and stay for lessons that might just change how you talk, write and lead."

Sell Your Business: At The Right Time, For The Right Price, And To The Right Buyer

Jane Johnson

How is your book helping others?

It may surprise you that Jane Johnson is one of the only consultants in the country that works with owners to sell their businesses – from the germ of the idea through the actual sale. Truth be told, there are brokers out there who are too often focused on their commission; and there are wealth managers who may prefer to sell you a product. But soup to nuts with your best interests in mind? That’s Jane Johnson as so many owners know. She finally put it all down in this important book – including the three elements that owners let slip by - selling at the right time, for the right price and to right buyer. Yes, Johnson explains how to do this and why all three are crucial. Brokers turn down 70% of those who approach them to sell and of the remaining 30%, only half actually do.
It can be done – and done well. Read this book to find out how.

Sunburnt: A memoir of sun, surf and skin cancer

Anne C Gately

How is your book helping others?

Australia has the highest rate of melanoma in the world and two in three Aussies will be diagnosed with skin cancer before turning 70 – yet sun protection isn’t taken seriously enough in Australia or in other western societies. 'Sunburnt' is the revealing memoir of Anne Gately’s stage IV melanoma journey where she recounts the emotions and challenges of beating a dire prognosis with life-saving immunotherapy treatment. Not content with just surviving, she is now calling for a change to the bronzed Aussie culture. By combining a nostalgic view of a charmed Aussie childhood with a jolting review of Australia’s sun-worshipping cultural norms, 'Sunburnt' is making Australians think twice about their relationship with the sun. The book’s powerful message has led to its selection as a recommended text for a new pilot sun protection program for high school students. 'Sunburnt' is helping to educate and inspire the future generation of Australians to protect themselves from the sun.

My Father's Suitcase

Book Cover Upload
Author:

Mary Garden

How is your book helping others?

My Father's Suitcase explores my troubled relationship with my younger sister Anna, who died in 2023. It shines a light on sibling abuse, the most common form of family violence occurring 4-5 times as much as spousal or parental child abuse. Like any other abuse, sibling abuse can be emotional, physical or sexual (the most common of intra-familial sexual abuse) and have far-reaching, long-lasting harmful effects on everyone involved. And yet it is the forgotten abuse, under-researched and seldom discussed in the media. It is often dismissed as sibling rivalry.
Sibling abuse occurs mostly in a dysfunctional family, such as my birth family, where parents have not learnt to process their own trauma. There may be spousal violence and parental child abuse, including neglect, already occurring.
My story will help others who have suffered at the hands of a sibling feel less alone, and encourage people to talk about this important issue.

A congratulations to the fellow healthcare workers on surviving the worst pandemic in our lifetime! We did it together. Whether they experienced situations similar to mine or not, there is a reason that they survived. There is a reason we are all still fighting this fight against COVID. We are the resilient ones. 2020 was the year of the nurse for a reason. We are here as an entity, as frontline workers, who guided the world through COVID-19!

I give the reader an honest look inside my complex mind as I face the normal daily routines, full of struggles and joys as I live with MPD.

It has been a privilege to share my story, speaking out about changing the narrative around mental health and how we can support each other. SPLIT is a tool to inspire. This is how we change the world, one life and one story at a time, where people are encouraged to persist and live the best lives they can.

Michelle Catherine Scheibner

How is your book helping others?

In a world where belonging and acceptance often elude us, HUSH dives into family secrets and their profound impact on our lives offering a fresh perspective to those who lack purpose and direction: are going in circles, unable to break free from limiting beliefs, negative thought-patterns and toxic relationships.

HUSH makes real the concepts of inherited trauma and epigenetics in a way no academic book could do, while weaving through introductions to many of the prominent thinkers and writers on these topics. It’s essential reading for anyone with an interest in how secrets and difficult pasts can deeply affect the lives of future generations by helping people see that the unconscious themes passed down through intergenerational trauma did not start with them. This transformative process of delving into experiences and pain of our ancestors can break the cycle, resolve what was holding us back, and step us fully into empowerment.

A Schizoid at Smith: How Overparenting Leads to Underachieving.

Book Cover Upload
Author:

Blair Rochelle Sorrel

How is your book helping others?

This is the first first person female narrative on a rare condition, Schizoid Personality Disorder. The memoir offers parents insight into how to prevent this maladaptation or tweak earlier intervention since this condition accounts for high levels of homelessness. SPD is a double whammy as parents may become a disabled child's lifelong benefactor. For the stricken or those feeling marginalized as "different," this work is a welcome mat that they are not alone. Clinicians rarely see this reclusive population and would value knowing more and this narrative is a boon to teachers, guidance counselors, family, and friends who are frustrated. Here's what Pulitzer Prize winner Junot Diaz had to say, "Eye-opening and hopeful and utterly sympathetic… Sorrel has opened an invaluable window into a world too few of us know anything about.” Finally, its message is a plea for greater tolerance as the ostracized lead harsh lives fraught with a litany of harassments beyond their control.
