FAQ for Authors Goody Business Book Awards

Uplifting Hot Air Balloon Logo – Our Goody Business Book Awards logo is a hot balloon to symbolize our mission to “Uplift Author Voices”. If you look closely, the basket in the logo is the shape of a book that the balloon is lifting above a crowd. Similar to how each patch in a balloon lifts up its’ passengers, each page in a book can tell a powerful story. All social impact authors are like balloon pilots driving a narrative. Our goal is to magnify business books that are positively impacting the world.

Author Impact Questions

WHY and HOW? – When anyone nominates a book, we ask two author questions to highlight their positive impact. In one paragraph each, authors will be asked to share WHY they wrote their book and HOW it is helping others. Each answer is limited to a maximum of 150 words. The judges will look closely at the HOW, and this answer will be featured for Winners and Finalists on the Goody Business Book Awards website and social media promotions.

5 Examples of Social Impact Books

Lastly, we want to highlight five social impact books from our bookshelf with HOW the author’s words positively improved our life, and many others. These examples are meant to give you ideas for books you could nominate for these business book awards.

What social impact books are on your bookshelf?

Book awards can also increase awareness of a book, raise an author’s credibility, increase sales, and attract more raving fans and clients.

All Award-Winning Authors can promote their award on their front cover, website, social media, blogs – and even send out a press release announcing the news! And P.S., the Goody Business Book Awards will be using many of the same platforms to promote the good that the Winners and Finalists are doing to make our world a better place.

So please join our mission and movement to “Uplift Author Voices” by nominating your social impact book, or your friend’s book by September 30. It’s an easy 3-step process that can be done in under 5 minutes here: Nominate Your Book.

“With 46 millions books published on Amazon now (and growing every day), the Goody Business Book Awards goal is to help authors stand out as an Award-Winning Author. This 100% social impact book awards program will highlight each winner’s WHY and HOW they are helping others to add value to their publicity and book marketing campaigns,” explains Founder, Award-Winning Author, Publicist, and Podcast Host Liz H. Kelly.

To Nominate Your Book to the Goody Business Book Awards, below are the 3 easy steps that can be done in 5 minutes.

  • 1. Select Your Book Category(s) – 50 options
  • 2. Add Your Book Details – Book, Cover, and Author Why and How
  • 3. Submit Payment and Wait for Judges to Announce Winners

Step 1 – Select Your Book Award Category(s)

Anyone can nominate a book for 1 or more of the 50 categories in 10 genres to help authors get recognized in their niche area. The ten subject areas include Business Books, Children’s Books, Entrepreneur, Health, Leadership, Marketing/Sales, Money/Wealth, Real Estate, Self-Help and Technology.

Step 2 – Add Your Book Details

To help the judges and book promotions, authors are asked to submit a book PDF, book cover image and answer 2 quick author questions (1 paragraph each) about their Author WHY and HOW their book is making a positive impact. These two questions are very important for the judging because the Goody Business Book Awards will recognize authors helping others (save money, be a better leader, lose weight, improve their health, start a company, buy a home, learn new tips, get educated, use technology and more).

Step 3 – Submit and Wait for Judges to Announce the Winners

The last step is to pay the submission fee that covers administrative costs via Square by September 30, 2022. And, then wait for the judges to announce the Winner and Finalist for each category by November 15, 2022, just-in-time for holiday book marketing promotions.

All 100 Award-Winners will be encouraged to promote their book awards by adding the awards-seal to their book cover, website, a press release, social media and/or blog.

In addition, the Goody Business Book Awards will promote all winners in a press release, website posts, digital media and more to maximize the reach and share the good news.

For anyone who wants to know more about how book awards can help authors, Kelly explains, “The top 3 author benefits include: 1. Increase Your Thought Leadership Brand, 2. Attract Mega Media Interviews and 3. Increase your Book Marketing and SEO (Search Engine Optimization).”

For all authors and anyone supporting writers, Goody Business Book Awards Founder Liz H. Kelly emphasizes, “Thank you for helping us shine a light on authors who are improving lives with words. Together, we can change the world – one author at a time.”

Nominate Your Book Goody Business Book Awards Jan v2 Smile
Want to become an Award-Winning Author? Nominate Your Book.

Let’s break the three steps down further with more tips to guide you:

Step 1 – Select Your Book Award Categories

Overall, you can select from 1-50 total categories that give authors many options to get recognized. Based on your ideal readers, think about the specific category that matches your book the best. You want to think strategically when selecting your categories to increase your chances of winning, and make your potential award even more valuable for book marketing.

For example, Goody Business Book Awards Founder Liz H. Kelly’s book, 8-Second PR, was recognized as the Best Book Awards Winner in the Business: Communications/ Public Relations Category, which was very helpful for marketing to potential buyers interested in this topic.

So if you wrote a Business genre book, you might select Business – General, Business – Innovation, Business-Novel, or Business – Women In Business out of the Goody Business Book Awards categories.

For example, in the Money/Wealth genre, you can nominate your book for Money/Wealth – General, Money – Investing, or Money – Wealth and Taxes.

If you wrote a Health genre book, you might want to use Health – General, Health – Medical, Health – Wellness, or Health – Mind, Body, Spirit.

For Self-Help, author categories include: Self-Help – How To, Self-Help – Inspiration, Self-Help – Memoir and more. Bottom line, you have a lot of options and can increase your chances of being recognized in your niche area simply by selecting book award categories based on your specialities.

Step 2 – Submit Your Book Details

The second step in this easy nomination process is to submit your book details and answer 2 short questions so the judges can learn more about your author WHY and HOW. Here’s how this step works:

1) Upload Your Book as a PDF – All book awards require a copy of your book to be submitted. Our process is all digital to make it easier for you (So no trip to the UPS, FedEx or postage costs, simply attach your book to our submission form).

2) Upload Your Book Cover as a PDF – We ask for a book cover image so that when the Goody Business Book Awards posts the Winners and Finalists on the website and social media, we have a visual graphic from you.

3) Answer 2 Short Author Questions – Tell us about your Author WHY and HOW your book is making a positive impact in 1 paragraph each (150 words maximum). For example, is your book saving lives, saving people money, inspiring others, improving the reader’s health, helping entrepreneurs start a business, teaching leadership skills, helping people promote their brand, and/or endless other ways to make a positive impact on lives?

Step 3 – Submit Payment via Square & then Wait for Judges to Announce Winners

The last step is easy, and involves submitting your payment that help cover our administrative costs via Square ($75/category, which our system is connected too. You will be automatically asked to submit your payment at the end of this nomination process. And then wait for Judges to announce the Winners by November 15.

Because all Nominations are final, please make sure you proofread your submission form before completing the process. You will then get an email from us acknowledging your nomination, and you’re all set!

Why Book Awards Matter so Much?

With over 46 million books published on Amazon (and honestly, it’s probably an even bigger number now), nominating your book for an award is a great way to stand out and have an extra marketing tool.

It’s way too easy to become a bestselling author now on Amazon using special discounts and by telling your friends to buy your book on a certain day. That’s why book awards are even more valuable for your thought leader credibility, sales and marketing.

All Goody Business Book Awards Winners and Finalists will also be promoted in many ways to help “magnify your good” through a book award seal (will be emailed to Winners and Finalists), press release, website, social media and more.

So stop procrastinating! Time is running out to nominate your book by September 30, so take action today towards becoming an Award-Winning Author by Nominating Your Book in the next 5 minutes!

3 New Book Awards Benefits for Authors

Are you an author with one of the 46 million books now published on Amazon? To help your brand and book stand out, here are 3 new book awards benefits for authors, and why you should nominate your book to programs like the Goody Business Book Awards – plus apply to more than one recognition program to increase your chances of winning as part of your overall marketing strategy.

You should seriously consider submitting your book for awards to increase your authority and SEO (Search Engine Optimization). To provide more perspective on why this author recognition can be invaluable, here are the positive impacts for award-winning authors.

1. Increases Your Thought Leader Brand

Winning a book award can raise awareness that you are a valued thought leader in your area of expertise. While there are millions of doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs and experts with books published, there are far fewer who can say they are an Award-Winning Author. By receiving a book award in your genre (most book awards have categories based on the subject), it also tells readers that your work stood out against others within your field. As an author, you want to be known as a thought leader who gains the interest of others, so people lean in and listen more to what you have to say.

2. Increases Your Chances of Major Media Interviews

With your increased “authority” as an industry thought leader with a book award, you are also much more likely to attract major media interviews such as the TODAY Show, NPR, PBS, Fast Company, Forbes, Psychology Today and more. Producers are always looking for ways to distinguish between hundreds of experts who want to be a guest on their show. Their job depends on selecting the most credible experts, and a book award will help you stand out.

For example, our PR agency (Goody PR, sponsor for Goody Business Book Awards) was fortunate to schedule a client on CNN HLN Headline News. As an Award-Winning Author and Former GM, Omar L. Harris was the perfect expert to discuss about How Martin Luther King Jr. taught us how to lead with love. His award-winning book “The Servant Leader’s Manifesto” also referenced MLK as a role model. As a result of his bio and brand, the producer said yes to a national TV interview within 5 minutes of our media pitch!

3. Increases Your Marketing SEO Opportunities

Another top benefit of becoming an award-winning author is that it gives you many book marketing opportunities that can increase your Search Engine Optimization (SEO). While there are thousands of business consultants and over 200,000 CEOs in the United States, how many are authors who have won book awards? And because most book awards highlight experts within their niche topic, people are more likely to find you and your book on Google.

For example, searching for “Best CEO” is a good start, but if they narrow their search to “Best Startup CEO”, and you won an award for a startup tips book, the headline might read “Award Winning Author and Startups Coach”, making you stand out in a sea of business leaders competing for the same customers.

And, if you win a book award, you will have many ways to maximize your news and increase exposure. For example, the Goody Business Book Awards will provide the following to amplify every winner:

  • A book awards seal to add to your book cover, website and marketing materials.
  • Mention in a nationally-distributed press release that announces the Winners and Finalists, which reaches millions and gets picked up by 100+ media online.
  • Winners will be posted on the Goody Business Book Awards website with a short paragraph about their social impact with a link to their book on Amazon.
  • Finalists will be listed on the Goody Business Book Awards website.
  • All Winners and Finalists will be posted on our social media accounts.

So don’t wait any longer to submit your book to awards programs. And while we recommend nominating your book to our business book awards program, please also apply to at least one more. And select the specific categories connected to your book genre and industry (the more specific the book awards category, the better!).

Because many book awards deadlines are coming up fast, you should add applications to your “to do list” and take action now! For example, the Goody Business Book Awards deadline is September 30, 2022 (any book published within the past 5 years is eligible!), and winners and finalists will be announced by November 15, 2022 – just in time for author holiday promotions!
